Ihsan in our Lives Day ذو القعدة The concept of ihsan is in our deen. It exists in worldly matters too. Ihsan has three meanings. اإلتقان excellence. The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل عليه و سلم said : ب إذا عمال أ ن ي إ ن اهلل تعالى ي تقن ه عم ل أح دك م ح Ihsan is in everything in life, but be careful of obsessions, and they will make it extreme and a burden instead of being smooth and happy. Surely Allah the Exalted loves that when you do any action, that you do it in excellence. This is something extra, not the obligations. Ihsan is more than the essentials. For the parents there is only ihsan, not justice, you always have to treat them in excellence. Be careful not to want anything in return from people. Beautify and adorn The ihsan is presented in a beautiful manner. Qarun was from the Bani Israeel, and Allah favored him so much with treasures. He was so wealthy that ten men were needed to carry the keys to his treasures. The good men from the Bani Israeel adviced him not to be proud, and use whatever Alain gave him for the akhirah. Don't only seek the pleasures of dunya, while not forgetting dunya completely either. This gives balance. Be content with what Allah gave you in dunya, and use it as a bridge to reach the akhirah. Allah deals with us with ihsan. If He only did justice, no one would exist on the earth. Allah gave us more than we deserves. Only with the sinners does Allah deal with in justice, while for the good doer, He deals with ihsan and favour. One of the names of Allah is املحسن, the One who does ihsan. Allah gives His creatures what they don't deserve. This makes us feel so humble. Allah the Most Rich always deals with ihsan, so what about us? The ihsan of Allah upon us is in three phases. The base The intermediate The completion Indeed, Qarun was from the people of Moses, but he tyrannized them. And We gave him of treasures whose keys would burden a band of strong men; thereupon his people said to him, "Do not exult. Indeed, Allah does not like the exultant نس ن اآل صيب وا بت غ فيم ا آت اك اهلل الد ا ر ة ال و ت ك م ن خ ر ال دن ي ا وأ ح س ن اهلل إ لي سا د في ك و ال ت ب غ ا لف سن كم ا أ ح األ ر ن اهلل ال ي امل ف ض إ ب س دي ن ح But seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world. And do good as Allah has done good to you. And desire not corruption in the land. Indeed, Allah does not like corrupters. سورة القصص 28:76-77

There are three points which form the base of the ihsan of Allah upon the human being. To bring him from nothingness to existence. Our very existence is ihsan of Allah upon us. Anything which exists is by the ihsan of Allah, whether they be animals, insects, specially human beings. Allah made you a human being, the best of the creation. We have certainly created man in the best of stature سورة الطني us the best, He didn't give us any choice in it. The insan is the latest creation, the angels and jinn were created much before the insan. The angels are created with light, while the jinn are created with fire. The insan is a different description, made from clay. Allah commanded everyone to prostrate to Aadam السالم. Allah made Aadam in the best form, and his offspring as his picture, with the same form. The shaitan tries to cheat you by making you think you are not beautiful, that you need to change. We all have the same general picture, of one nose, two eyes and ears etc, then everyone has a specific picture, which makes and insects and snakes. him special. We are not mirror images of each other, manufactured in a factory. Allah is the Best Creator. All His creation are different in specific terms, such as the fish If you don't believe that Allah is,املحسن you will complain about everything, and never be happy and satisfied with life. The human being is better than any other creation. Your picture is the best for you. Allah gave you the intellect. The human being has been given desires and intellect. Angels have intellect but no desires. Animals have desires but no intellect. The intellect tells you what is right and wrong. If we didn't have intellect, we would always choose the wrong way, because that is beautified by the shaitan. The truth always looks ugly and the falsehood is always attractive. So Allah gave you the intellect to show you the right choice, that you should not follow your desires. For instance, it's time for the Fajr prayer, and your desire is to sleep, but your mind tells you that Allah wants you to wake up and pray. This is one of the reasons why alcohol is haram, because it covers the mind, and the heart can do whatever it desires. The sleeping person is not accountable because his mind is و أ ح س ن ك م ا أ ح س ن اهلل إل ي ك And do good as Allah has done good to you 28:77 اهلل ال ذي ج ع ل ل ك م األ ر ض ق ر ار ا و الس م اء بن اء و ص و ر ك م ف أ ح س ن ص و ر ك م و ر ز ق ك م م ن الط ي ب ات ذ لك م اهلل ر ب ك م ف ت ب ار ك اهلل ر ب ال ع امل ني ف ت ب ار ك اهلل أ ح س ن ال خ القني So blessed is Allah, the best of creators. 23:14 It is Allah who made for you the earth a place of settlement and the sky a ceiling and formed you and perfected your forms and provided you with good things. That is Allah, your Lord; then blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds. Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 76:3 Have We not made for him two eyes? And a tongue and two lips? And have shown him the two ways? And Allah has extracted you from the wombs of your mothers not knowing a thing, and He made for you hearing and vision and intellect that perhaps you would be grateful.

covered. The intellect is like the police, always stopping you from doing the wrong thing. One aspect of taqwa is fighting he desires with intellect. This is jihad with yourself, the intellect fights with the heart. If the truth wins, this is taqwa. The intelligence makes us different from all other creation. Our brains are beautifully and perfectly made, with the most fine details. Ihsan with zakaat Zakaat is the purification of your wealth. All the acts of worship are for purification. This is the goal for all worship. Zakaat also purifies you from greed. Why do we need purification? We are made of sand, and need to be reformed to enter Jannah. It is like grooming the crown prince to be king. He has to learn the art of ruling, be trained in discipline. To be in the neighbourhood of Allah needs so much upgrading. When you take out the zakaat from your wealth, it should be from your heart, happily. You should not feel that you are forced to give it. Allah doesn't need your charity, you are giving sadaqah for yourself. You must give the best for Allah, not something that is disliked by you. If it is not acceptable for you, how can you give it to others? When you give sadaqah, before it reaches the needy people, it is in the hands of Allah. So give whatever you do nicely, presented well. Zakaat is more than money, it is purification or the soul. And spend [in the way of Allah ] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous." 63:10 Allah accepts the charity when it is from lawful earnings. Then Allah will invest it for you, until it is like a mountain. O you who have believed, spend from the good things which you have earned and from that which We have produced for you from the earth. And do not aim toward the defective therefrom, spending [from that] while you would not take it [yourself] except with closed eyes. And know that Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy. 2:267 Give your sadaqah and zakaat yourself, before you die. While you are alive, you can do anything you want. After it are dead, you are dependent upon others to give charity on your behalf. متفق عليه رياض الصالحني كتاب 1# حديث # 561 He who gives in charity the value of a date which he legally earned, and Allah accepts only that which is pure, Allah accepts it with His Right Hand and fosters it for him, as one of you fosters his mare, until it becomes like a mountain.

The Messenger of Allah : said وكيف : asked He was How? A Dirham surpassed a hundred thousand Dirhams." They said: "How?" He said: "A man had two Dirhams and gave one in charity, and another man went part of his wealth and took out a hundred thousand dirhams and gave them in charity. The ihsan doesn't necessarily mean quantity, but quality. The one who had two dirhams and gave one dirham in charity, gave half his wealth. So his reward is also great. The charity sound be given with a happy and willing heart. Ihsan in fasting The word صوم comes from the verb, to hold yourself. The صام / يصوم specific purpose of fasting is to achieve taqwa, not follow your desires. It is not only abstaining from eating and drinking and relations, but it is purification. People have the misconception that fasting is not a positive action, but actually it is an activation. 1219# He who observes fasting during the month of Ramadan with faith while seeking its reward from Allah, will have his past sins forgiven. The Messenger of Allah Every Ramadan should be better than the one before. The quality of your fast should constantly be remembered. The hours of the day can't increase, but hoping for the reward will improve the quality. The ihsan with fasting is by the intention. It must not be like a habit, but with a happy heart and faith. The Messenger of Allah said : الصلوات الخمس والجمعة إلى الجمعة ورمضان إلى رمضان مكفرات ما بينهن إذا اجتنبت الكبائر. : said و سلم من لم يدع قول الزور والعمل به فليس هلل حاجة في أن يدع طعامه وشرابه. رواه البخاري رياض الصالحني كتاب # 9 حديث 1241# If one does not give up lies and false conduct, Allah has no need that he should abstain from his food and his drink 1149# The five daily (prescribed) Salat, and Friday (prayer) to the next Friday (prayer), and the fasting of Ramadan to the next Ramadan, is expiation of the sins committed in between them, so long as major sins are avoided. The reward is the expiation of all the sins. Every Ramadan, your decree is different. The worship may be less or more, but it will have a different taste every time.

The Messenger of Allah You have to said : fulfill the You There are two joys for the fasting person: the joy. الص و م ف إن ه لي وأ ن ا أ ج زي ب ه إال must not be when he breaks his fast, and the joy of when he 3823 # حديث سنن ابن ماجة in a bad meets his Lord mood simply Every deed of the son of Adam will be because you multiplied for him, between ten and are fasting. There has to be ihsan in your behaviour too. Fasting is seven hundred times for each merit. for the purification of the soul, so there must be manners. You Allah said: Except for fasting, for it is for should not ask Me and I shall reward for it. another person The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل عليه و سلم said why he isn't : fasting. Don't ق الصي ا م ه و make people justify their action, this was the way of the ال اهلل عز و ج ل ك ل ع م ل اب ن آ د م ل ه إال sahabah. Allah, the Majestic and the Exalted, said: Every act of the son of Adam is for him except fasting. It is done for My sake, and I will give a reward for it. By Allah in Whose Hand is the life of Muhammad, the breath of the observer of fast is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk. Ihsan in fasting, with the correct intention and hoping for the reward, brings endless rewards. It is not the usual calculation of deeds. When you break your fast, the feelings you experience are indescribable. These feelings of happiness are from Allah. Ihsan with the Qura'an The goal for ihsan with the Qura'an is to increase the faith. Belief is not tangible, but you will experience feelings of happiness when your faith increase, and you are not so easily hurt by what others say and do. You will be a balanced person, thinking of Allah and the rewards. These things will overcome your sensitivities. People may think you are cold, with no emotions, but this is because of an increase in faith. Anything regarding dunya will seem so insignificant to you. Sins and lack of knowledge decrease the faith. The shaitan will come as an advisor, trying to cheat you, by making you think it is important to beautify your voice when you're reciting the Qura'an, and memorize, to think good of yourself. Don't be hasty while you're reading the Qura'an, don't think about finishing the page or the surah, just enjoy it. It is not about the quantity. It should change you. The Sahabah always took a whole surah, not page by page, or juz' by juz', or ayah by ayah. They took each surah as an entity, because every surah has a theme. We must train ourselves to have this mindset. Their concern was not to finish the surah, but to understand it and apply it. The ihsan may not impress us as human beings, because it is less in quantity, but Allah loves it. The Sahabah would take ten ayaat, and repeat them until they absorbed them. When this happens, then you will be able to recall it when you need it, living and alive in your heart. Allah accepts small deeds which are done in excellence. Don't think about the result. Even if you don't see the

result, you will be rewarded. Looking for the result is a destroyer of ihsan. When you focus on the result, you will not do ihsan. There are some steps that you must follow to make ihsan with the Qura'an. Preparation seek refuge with Allah, listen and repeat. Look at the general overview of the surah, and study the general topics. Study read the different tafaseer. Memorize when you understand the verses, then memorize them. The carrier of the Qura'an must be on the best behaviour. It is a great tragedy when someone names their bad behaviour on the Qura'an. It is not about completion, but about ihsan.
